Overview
The Aurevant AV-Chem 450 is a high-performance, fully automated, open-system clinical chemistry analyzer developed by Aurevant Medical for medium-to-high volume diagnostic laboratories, regional reference laboratories and busy hospital core labs that need higher daily throughput without moving to a large floor-standing system.
Building on the proven architecture of the AV-Chem series, the 450 model significantly increases photometric capacity to 450 tests per hour (up to 720 tests/hour when the optional ISE module is installed). It features dual independently refrigerated reagent trays (total more than 90 positions), an expanded 80-position sample rotor with dedicated STAT and calibration/control zones, automatic sample pre- and post-dilution, intelligent re-run, dual-probe sampling and continuous cuvette management.
The analyzer supports the full range of routine and specialized photometric assays: glucose and metabolic panels, renal function, liver enzymes, complete lipid profiles, proteins, cardiac and muscle enzymes, and turbidimetric assays. Optional direct ISE measurement of Na⁺, K⁺ and Cl⁻ further extends the menu.
Key engineering improvements include dual-probe sampling for higher efficiency and lower carry-over, tighter temperature control (±0.05 °C), reduced water consumption, advanced clot and liquid-level detection, and a modern Windows-based software platform with multi-user access, full audit trail, real-time reaction curves and comprehensive Levey-Jennings QC. Bi-directional HL7/ASTM LIS connectivity is standard.

Directions for Use
Installation: Place the analyzer on a stable, level, vibration-free laboratory bench or dedicated stand capable of supporting the instrument weight. Maintain ambient conditions of 15–30 °C and 20–80 % relative humidity. Allow adequate clearance on all sides for ventilation and service access.

The AV-Chem 450 is the higher-throughput model. It offers approximately double the photometric capacity (450 vs 220 tests/hour), dual reagent trays, an 80-position sample rotor, dual-probe sampling, automatic dilution/re-run, and is designed for medium-to-high volume laboratories.
Is the AV-Chem 450 an open system?
Yes. The analyzer is designed as an open system. Aurevant Medical provides fully validated applications for its own reagents. Laboratories may also use additional reagents that they have validated under their own quality management system, provided local regulations permit this practice.
Does the instrument support STAT / urgent samples?
Yes. Multiple dedicated STAT positions and software prioritization allow urgent samples to be processed with high priority, including the ability to interrupt the routine workflow when necessary.
Is automatic dilution available?
Yes. The AV-Chem 450 supports both pre-dilution and post-dilution (ratios typically from 1:2 to 1:100) and can automatically re-run samples that fall outside the measuring range.
What is the recommended maintenance schedule?

Is LIS connectivity available?

What is the expected life of the reusable cuvettes?
When the automatic wash cycle is used correctly and only recommended cleaning solutions are employed, the hard-glass cuvettes typically support many thousands of tests. Exact lifetime depends on assay mix and adherence to maintenance procedures.
